Can't you just smell the exhaust fumes and feel the rumble of the big blocks?
I will be calculating the total displacement of this page in a week, it should be pretty good, since Oldses are known for displacememnt.

Ken's 1981 Cutlass Calais is anything but stock. I like to think of it as a sleeper. It has a GM Performance Parts 350, conservatively(low-ball)rated at 330 HP and 380 Lb-ft Torque. Edelbrock intake, Flowtech Afterburner Headers, High Torque Mini-starter, K&N Filter and Jet Performance Q-jet round out the engine package. Suspension upgrades start with Global West Del-a-Lum bushings, rebuilt steering system, Moog 640Lb springs, Poly sway bar endlink bushings, and a 7/8" rear anti-sway bar. The combination of acceleration and handleing makes this car alot of fun on twisty roads in the North Georgia Mountains. And thanks to the 2.29:1 differential, I manage 15 mpg and cruise the interstates well.

This quiet little '79 wagon is getting ready for bigger things some day.(like those wheels?) But for now it has a relatively mundane Olds 260 (v-8) under the hood backed by a TH-350, and no, it hasn't got drop spindles or fancy springs, the granpa suspension has worn out. The bucket seats were more of a comfort issue, since the granpa bench seat was in need of new stuffing. The interior has a few upgrades that compliment the bucket seats, like a Sport Steering Wheel, Rallye Dash Gages, custom (Pontiac)console with 100 CD storage unit and Pioneer CD player(which shredded the factory speakers in less than a day). This car gets the commuter duty of 75 miles per day and my three year old daughter doing some back seat driving. |
